Eureka! VBS Mountain Top
|
| |

A huge Upward Bound thanks
to all who prayed, provided
Trail Treats refreshments,
and/or completed the climb
as Upward Bound Staff.
Thanks to such a great group
effort and our Lord's loving
guidance, Upward Bound's
Backpackers reached the
Summit with smiles! We were
blessed to receive children
from within Covenant's
church and school, as well
as many other area churches
and those who do not
regularly attend church.

Medical Mission Trip
|
| |
Jenna
Zimmerman participated in a
medical missions trip to
Honduras during the week of
June 20-26. The team was
sponsored by Evangelistic
International Ministries and
worked at the Sula Hospital
in Sula, Macueliza in Santa
Barbara, Honduras. The
team consisted of surgeons
and support personnel -- all
volunteers from Florida and
Alabama (many from
Bay Medical here in Panama
City). The Sula Hospital
ministers to approximately
125,000 people in western
Honduras and depends on
visiting volunteer surgeons
who come in several times
during each year. EIM owns
the hospital and is devoted
to meeting physical,
emotional and spiritual
needs of the people
there. Jenna said each day
was packed with scheduled
surgeries. She worked in
central supply, transported
patients, helped in post-op,
and also assisted in several
surgeries being performed.
It was a busy week. Jenna
will tell you that the
entire experience for her
was a blessing and that she
hopes to return in the years
ahead.

Samaritan's Purse Shoe Boxes
|
| |
From Agnes Godert:
Are you saving your unused shoe
boxes? The time is coming--in
November! What a blessing it
would be if every member
of Covenant filled at least one
shoe box this year. You would
have the joy of knowing you had
helped a child somewhere in the
world to know Jesus (probably
India). Many times parents
and family members also come to
Christ through this simple
gift. With each box Samaritan's
Purse includes a copy of
"The Greatest Story" --
scripture in the child's native
language.
Over the past five years I
have received letters of
appreciation from seven
people living in southern
India. This seems to
confirm that our boxes are
going to India. The most
southeastern state of Tamil
Nadu speaks Tamil, west of
that Teluga is spoken.
Only children with someone
to help them write English
are able to respond. The
most recent letter written
on May 13, 2009, is from
Evangeline Moses, the
seventh grade daughter of an
evangelist. Pastors who
have numerous village
churches or an orphanage
seem to be getting our
boxes. So let's help them
tell the Good News of Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Make that Shoe Box!
